Impulse Wave

A five-wave trending structure that moves in the direction of the larger trend.

Structure:

1-2-3-4-5

NEoWave Association

NEoWave applies more detailed validation standards to impulse waves that traditional Elliott Wave does not.

In standard Impulsions, Glenn Neely's methodology forces:

  • wave-2 to take the same time or more than wave-1
  • wave-4 to take the same time or more than wave-3
  • channeling changes based on which wave is the longest
  • one wave must be substantially longer (161% to 261%) than the shortest wave

Glenn frequently warns that many analysts incorrectly label trends as impulses when the internal structure actually reflects a corrective formation.
